Who I am

Hi, my name is Jo and I work in private counselling practice offering both face to face counselling and online counselling, with clients across all age ranges, from age 18, up to and beyond retirement. I have the fullest commitment to offering a service which is welcoming to all backgrounds in a supportive and inclusive manner.

I have twenty years’ experience of working as a business person, employed as a buyer for a national retailer and also owning and running my own company. I enjoyed the fast pace of life – meeting deadlines and hitting targets. I am very aware of how working in a highly stressful environment can affect all aspects of life.  It is a reality for many of us to try and balance busy work life and busy family life.

I am passionate about helping others to bring balance into their lives – whatever and wherever the imbalances are. Understanding the way our actions, emotions, and thoughts all relate to each other can be a key to unlock many frustrations and unhappiness we may experience. Ashleigh Warner sums up my beliefs beautifully when she says, 'Beneath every behaviour is a feeling. And beneath every feeling is a need. And when we meet that need rather than focus on the behaviour, we begin to deal with the cause not the symptom'.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working within their

  • Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions
  • Working Online in the Counselling Professions

Information relating to both of these documents can be found at: www.bacp.co.uk.

Qualifications

  • I am currently working towards BACP Accreditation
  • Level 5 Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic Skills and Theory
  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
